Broken Paternoster Games was founded in 2023 as the Cologne Game Lab’s own student-led publishing label. BPG aims to help its students release their game projects on Steam as well as finding publishers. We provide quality assurance, help with marketing materials and organize booths for events like Gamescom.
As a founding member of BPG I already gathered a lot of insights of what it means to be a publisher. I underwent the Steam publishing process, helped creating BPG’s corporate design, and attended multiple showcase events to make the students’ games more visible. In 2024 I exhibited my game Hotel Tome ws at Gamescom and Indie Game Fest. In 2025 the RAW Talent booth we brought to life at Gamescom a year before grew from 4 m² to 63 m², from 19 to 48 games exhibited, from 3 to 11 universities cooperating with each other to enable students showcasing their projects.
My main responsibilities at BPG were maintaining our itch.io page, conceptualizing new marketing materials and playtesting the applicants’ games, scouting cool new projects to be exhibited and published, as well as providing feedback to them. Now as an alumna, I mainly bake cake and try to help where I can.
